This week we explore the high Romantic sensibilities of 19th Century composers Tchaikovsky and Glazunov, enjoy Stravinsky's spiky ryhytms and sound colors, and conclude with a joyful evening of Schubert's sublime melodic genius. With the superb Emerson Quartet as our guides, we immerse ourselves in the profound final six string quartets of Shostakovich to end the journey of the complete cycle.

Our journey ends with CMNW's trademark musical diversity, in a week that takes us back to the Baroque with Handel, to masterpieces of Mozart, Mendelssohn and Dvorak, to two world premieres. Composers David Schiff and Edgar Meyer bring us two compelling new works - both for nine instruments - and our grand finale combines three wonderful wind serenades written over a span of 225 years.
